It’s long been known for its beautiful architecture and the interesting and eclectic mix of people, but more and more it’s becoming the spot where you should plan on meeting up for your next drink.

There is a wide variety of bars for patrons to choose from, including hipster dives, craft cocktail bars, one of Chicago’s most famous soccer bars, regular sports bars, and neighborhood hangouts. In this article, we’ll take a look at 4 of the coolest Ukrainian Village bars for you to check out.

Fatpour Tap Works

A great sports bar on Division Street, Fatpour Tap Works will exceed your expectations with its outstanding beer list, and the plethora of flat screen TVs broadcasting your favorite sporting event. It occupies two stories to give you plenty of space and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere for you to enjoy your drinks in.


Speaking of drinks, it’s beer list has a truly impressive selection including drinks from breweries like Mikkeller, Allagash, Krombacher, and Revolution.


One of the cool things about this bar is that it has the NFL Sunday ticket. So, if you happen to be a New England Patriots fan living in Chicago (or a fan of any other non-Chicago TV market team), you can catch your team in action at Fatpour Tap Works.

California Clipper

No list of Ukrainian Village bars can be complete without a mention of the California Clipper. Take yourself to another time an era when you visit retro joint. It’s a cool low key club with dim glowing lighting and has live bands on many nights (jazz, rap, rock, etc).


The vibe is not pretentious and the food and cocktails are reasonably priced. The servers and bartenders are attentive and friendly. It’s a great choice for a night out with a date, offers great value, and most importantly, a great night you’ll remember.


A neighborhood bar in Ukranian Village/Humboldt Park area that’ a hipster favorite, but also attracts a crowd from beyond the area. The bar offers a unique drink menu that includes some tasty craft cocktails.


The decor is somewhat retro, with its rather funky taxidermy filled interior design. The drinks are served on a long brown wooden bar. During the summertime when the weather is nice, the back patio is a popular hangout for bar patrons.


The drinks are cheap, and there are usually creative specials available. For people that get bored easily, they have some games available, including checkers. It is cash only, so remember to stop at the ATM on your way.


Any soccer fan in Chicago has probably heard of Cleos. Before soccer started gaining popularity in the US, and the TV networks started showing games from all the major European leagues, Cleos was one of the few Chicago bars where fans could catch these games.
